We create sustainable
urban communities
We fund and guide the transformation of urban regions, helping neighbours create communities and implement projects together in the neighborhood.
I.
We are looking for teams of neighbours and NGOs from urban areas who want to create communities in their cities.
We are transforming the urban landscape through green energy and community interventions around the SDGs. By working together, locals have one year to implement their project and create communities in their neighbourhood.
II.
We are supporting the neighbourhoods through . the DearNeighbour model for changemaking.
We are helping local micro-leaders find their tribe and we are equipping each project team with the resources and the skills to succeed. We are celebrating their success stories and facilitating the sharing of best practices with other communities. We are there every step of the way.
III.
Teams will be receiving a budget from DearNeighbour to transform their community.
This budget will be discussed on a case-by-case basis and can cover elements such as PV panels, gardening tools, beehives, bike tools… - anything that can help the community become more sustainable!
IV.
Everything happens through co-creation.
It’s your neighbourhood, you know better what it needs. We are here with you to help execute your vision, but the main drivers are the locals. We are involving neighbours throughout the process, from needs assessment to impact reporting.

"In my childhood, the neighbourhood was a true institution that you could turn to in times of need: you asked for a cup of sugar or some money until your payday and, surprise!, you got it. The relationships we had with our neighbours were quite strong - we were even leaving them a set of keys to our homes when we were going on vacation! Things have changed over the last 30 years, and now we hardly know our neighbours. Trust is a way more difficult concept to grasp nowadays and it’s unclear why. Is it society? Is it the internet? Is it the result of the individualism we are often being advertised as a recipe for success? Is it the new normal of globalization and the result of a natural process of readjusting relationships in this new socio-economic context? It could be all of these things, and many more.
I'm glad that DearNeighbour wants to answer these questions and see what we choose to do TOGETHER in our communities. The behaviors that define a society are determined by the relationships between us and the quality of those relationships. And we want to have a supportive, empathetic, and loving society.".
DearNeighbour, Bucharest 6
We tested our assumption in 2022 in the 6th District. It worked.
Nadia and Aurel were the first brave people to join the DearNeighbour universe in 2022 and this is how this journey took off.
Last year we helped develop nine new communities: 6 Funded, 1 Supported, and 2 Facilitated. We aim for 50 new ones in 2024.
